COUNSELING

What is witnessed in the streets, the scene, the back of the ambulance, and the battlefield is heavy to say the least. If the things public servants endured over their calls and careers did not bother them, there would be a bigger problem. But where do you purge? Who understands? You stifle your emotions, thoughts, and feelings due to the stigma and the fear of burden. After all, this doesn't seem like a light conversation for the dinner table. At TLC we offer discrete and confidential sessions with counselors, therapists, and peer support personnel who understand. We understand because we've been there, we understand the weight of what you carry because we've carried it. Anyone you speak to at TLC is a former officer, firefighter, medical technician, or combat veteran. And that is exactly what we long to provide, an opportunity for you to speak, be heard, be understood, be supported.

FAMILY THERAPY

The forgotten heroes of our communities are the family members and loved ones of our first responders. First words and first steps have been missed, too many birthdays and holidays have had an empty seat at the dinner table, and concerts and games have gone on with one less cheering fan in the audience. Being a first responder's support system and family unit is the definition of non-normal life. It takes a special person to pin on your badge and send the person they cherish into the unknown, watching you walk away and ready to run towards what everyone else is running away from. TLC is here for the people who cherish the sound of velcro as body armor is taken off and loath sorting through bandages and bullets in the laundry. Your family is your support system, let us support them and encourage them in doing that each day.

CONSULTING

In addition to individual and family support, TLC also provides group training for departments and groups ranging from resilience and trauma to physical and mental health. We are not intellectuals coming in to tell you what the latest book or case study showed us you are doing wrong. We are experienced first responders who chose to delve into the world of mental health to better our brothers and sisters who serve and protect the communities we love. Our trainings are based on biological and neuroscience and boiled down to the action principles so that a police officer can understand it and a firefighter can't break it. We wouldn't dare step into a room full of professionals who are either armed or know how to make our untimely demise look like an accident (or both) ready to inflict yet another PowerPoint torture session. Our training are packed with simple, practical, and actionable information aimed at empowering first responders in caring for themselves and those they love. Things we wish we knew at the beginning of our careers and hope to pass on.
